iPhone 5 to launch October 15th according to France Telecom CEO

Apple’s iPhone 5 will launch on Orange in Europe on October 15th according to comments from the CEO of the carrier’s parent company, France Telecom. FT chief executive Stéphane Richard, who has openly discussed Apple’s plans for the iPhone ahead of announcement in the past, told the French press that the iPhone 5 will launch on Orange in mid-October, TechRadar reports. “If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October,” the CEO said without elaborating. Apple’s iPhone 5 has previously been rumored to be set for an October 7th release, which may still be the case in some markets. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 alongside an updated iPhone 4 model at a press event later this month or early in October.

When it comes from Apple we will know. Until then no one knows nothing.

But where would BGR be without iPhone 5 speculation?

        ,.. awesome ..

I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.

Where would any tech blog be without IPhone 5 speculation? Personally I’m getting tired of it and can’t wait till they release it.

Better yet, where would Apple be without BGR’s free publicity….?

I thought everyone here hates Apple?

It would just be and anti-blackberry and anti-android blog without iPhone rumors.

Yes, blame BGR for reporting on the of the most highly anticipated consumer electronic device in the past few years. What are they thinking?!

Apple devices often launch later in other markets after an initial launch in the US. My suspicion is that October 7th is right for the US, and the 15th is for wider markets.

I take it you are an analyst?

Aside from the original iPad due to supply constraints, France is generally always in the first round for Apple rollouts alongside the US. As is Germany, Japan and the UK.

I didn’t claim that Apple regularly did this, simply that it’s not without precedent. The original iPhone launched solely in the US in June 2007, with a French release in November. The 3G, 3Gs and 4 did launch in the US and France at the same time, and as you mentioned the original iPad did not (neither did the iPad 2). 3 products released at the same time, and 3 staggered, so there is just as much substantiation for a staggered release date.

While I’m looking forward to owning my first Apple product in 20 years, I’m not looking forward to the craziness that comes with purchasing them on release day. I’ll not be loosing a finger over a phone. At this rate, people will be going the PS3 route and getting shot as they exit stores =(

hopefully, they’ll do like they have in the past and allow pre-orders and they can be delivered to your doorstep the day of release!?!

      • Anonymous

That’s my plan, but they seem to go quickly and I’m hoping not wait days/weeks after it is released to actually have one in my hands. Hopefully the rumors are true and they have been stockpiling these things for a while.

How/Why would one of your fingers come loose?

      • Anonymous

Some guy had most of his finger torn off when someone stole his iPad. The drawstring from the bag was wrapped around his finger.
