Google now activates 500,000 Android devices each day

mobile

Google announced at its annual Google I/O conference last month that as of the beginning of May, the tech giant was activating 400,000 Android new devices each day. That amazing pace seemed almost impossible to keep up, but fast forward to Tuesday and Google’s Android boss shared a new stat. “There are now over 500,000 Android devices activated every day, and it’s growing at 4.4% w/w,” Andy Rubin posted from his Twitter account. Compared to the rest of the market, Android’s explosive global growth slowed recently. In the U.S., Android even lost share last quarter for the first time since 2009 according to IDC. Activations certainly aren’t slowing down though, and we expect Android to be the dominant mobile OS in terms of market share for years to come.

    How is +250,000/day surprising?

It’s not and devs are still picking iOS as their main. Android can activate 1 million a day, the iOS ecosystem is still better for the consumer, which I am.

Face facts iKids… people like choice, people like to customize their devices, people don’t being a clone of every other idevice.   High end Android phones are cutting edge in mobile tech.  The iphone is now relegated to a catch up device, always lagging at least 6 months behind.  Sure… you get “quality control” by your big brother Apple.  But its slow reaction time and arrogance now how the device in 2nd place in the mobile world.

I can tell you have never used an iPhone. You can do just about anything you want to it if you jailbreak it, and you don’t have to worry about all the buggy software and malware like you do with android.

Ive used one.  And i can tell you’ve truly never used an Android device.  Only heard what other iphone fans say about it.  Ive never had malware on my phone or tablet.  And Android hasn’t felt “buggy” since version 1.6.   Everytime i toy around with my buddies iphone 4, I feel like im playing with an out of date device.

Oh and a little tip on your jailbreak point.  A jailbroken iphone become open to all the same threats an Android device is open to.  Yet with even the slightest common sense its pretty easy to avoid any problems.  So if you’re going to jailbreak a crApple phone… why not just go ahead and make the switch?

I had a samsung captivate and it was a piece of shit. GPS didn’t work, mail had problems after problems. Battery life sucked and it even took twice as long to charge than my iPhone. At least I don’t have to jailbreak my iPhone to get rid if softwear I don’t want. Stop being a blind freetard.

I just do not know what these activations are.  500,000 * 365 = 182,500,000 device activations per year.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent. com

The worst is that bad loser Microsoft has begun to sue small companies that manufacture Android devices for Us. I think MS is the EVIL
