Sprint dangles discounts to lure away AT&T, T-Mobile customers

mobile

Are you an AT&T or T-Mobile small business customer? Sprint wants your business, and it’s offering some pretty compelling discounts to woo you. A leaked internal document says “Come on over to Sprint and see how we can be a great partner,” and it offers AT&T and T-Mobile enterprise customers a 12% discount, 2 handset offers, and $175 CL port-in credit. It’s not as nasty as the carrier’s earlier smear campaign, which asked “Do you have the feeling the AT&T/T-Mobile love connection won’t end with a ‘Happily Ever After?’,” and offered to pay the $175 early-termination fee, but it certainly shows the carrier’s anxiety about the AT&T/T-Mobile acquisition. Sprint has expressed deep concerns about the merger and its CEO, Dan Hesse, said that it will “stifle innovation” in the U.S. wireless market if approved. Sprint’s new deal reportedly runs through July 23rd. Read on for the full image.

LOL… Why not? The Average Tmob person doesn’t want to end up paying ATT Prices. Sprint is next in line as the cheapest carrier. And the network is pretty good. Why not? . . .

    • Heat

Sprint is not cheaper. Not too sure your aware of Sprint’s maintenance fees, regulatory fees, etc. 10 dollar add on fee for activating a “smart phone”. No individuality within family plans. 5 lines all have to get data if only 3 people will use it. It’s all or nothing with Sprint. Customer service is still absolutely terrible ! 15yr prior customer, Nextel/Sprint. Unlimited data, big deal. Phones are terrible, prices are higher ! Compare 3 Iphone (ok lets say it’s an Android) 2 non smart phones 196 tax included. Includes my gov. discount. Add up Sprint 5 lines with the forced everyone has to have data plan. Outrageous.

      • Heat

That’s an ATT comparison by the way.

      • Erik Abramson

That comparison is ridiculous.  I have 5 lines, all Epic and Evos.  No worries about overages on data, free texting, free minutes to any mobile phone, Verizon roaming, nights 7pm-7am, and my bill hovers at $210 every month with all fees.

It works for YOU since you only need 3 smart phones, but if you need 5 awesome phones with unlimited data and texting, it’s not close.

I’m on Sprint. No matter how you slice it (you seem to be very confused by what you’re paying for) Sprint is a lot cheaper than At&t — which is the comparison here.

      • Heat

My confusion: Sprint 5 lines 129 +30 (3 smart phones, yes thats 10 per phone for having a smart phone) + 60 ( for 3 extra lines) =209 plus roughly 20% in taxes realistically. My att bill is 196 including taxes. Cheaper ! I should know I just left Sprint. Great service though, unless your in the mountains. Verizon roaming was nice.

sprint has nice phone idiot what are you talking about damf

      • Anonymous

They are offering you either a BlackBerry Style or a Motorola XPRT… not exactly a Evo 3D or anything that people want …

      • Anonymous

You do realize that this offer is for business accounts, right? Most employers don’t care about being on the bleeding edge of technology when providing phones for their employees.

      • http://twitter.com/cyberb0b Bob Autrey

Right… so which are you getting? The Style or the XPRT??? Idiot…

A 12% discount AND a crappy phone? What a deal!

    • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

It’s not as though you have to choose between the two discounted handsets.

    • Tim242

That could just save you enough to finally get rid of those crotch crickets. You know, the ones you got from BringIt.

I dont have a business plan, and I got my EVO 6 months ago for $99, plus I have a 25% discount on my plan – I actually came out better end of the deal than Sprint did…

this deal ends 7/23/11. hopefully that means another awesome sprint phone will come out 7/24/11. photon? within? 4g+????????????

  • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

    You’d better hop on that.

  • Applesucksfatties

I love how good ol’ Dan Hesse is AGAINST the big bad merger between AT&T and TMob.. yet the company he runs is trying to capture AT&T/TMob customers buy offering them sweetheart deals to switch before the merger.   Note to Hesse, STFU and stop talking out your corn hole.  B*tching about the merger and then trying to profit off of it makes you (and your company) look like a bunch of douchers.

    • Anonymous

So Sprint should NOT try and entice customers away from their competition…? That’s a hell of a way to grow a business.

      • Applesucksfatties

Didn’t say that.. If they want to lure customers, fine.. then they need to stop b*tching about the merger.

What does one have to do with the other?

  • http://profiles.google.com/blackgoat226 Orlando Rojas

Shooot, they need to have this deal if they get the iPhone in the fall.

  • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

I recently switched back to Sprint. Though their coverage is less than ideal in certain areas, I can’t beat the overall value I received. Dig it: I purchased the Nexus S 4G at a cool $99, received a free Samsung wireless bundle (which included a WEP480 Bluetooth headset, a carrying case, a micro usb traveling charger and vehicle charger, as well as a handset stand.
Not to mention I receive 300 bonus minutes of airtime on the 450 Simply Everything plan. Needless to say, I’m good.

My advice is this: Observe and evaluate the the strengths and weaknesses of each carrier, then select the one that accommodates your needs accordingly. Don’t just blindly hop on dicks.

BWAHAHAH don’t just blindly hop on dicks!

By the way, this was really well stated!

        Gracias.

im in chicago and have sprint and as of the last 3 months i receive every third phone call and get voicemails hours later. if the voice function of the phone is immaterial Sprint is fine. for business purposes they are a killer and wont even credit me back for lousy service.

I was on AT&T for years, including all of their former names (SBC, CellularOne, whatever), and I’ll stick to Sprint, thank you very much.  You only have to pay the $10 data add-on if you have a 4G phone.  And I, for one, use my smartphone for data much, much more than as a phone.  Since AT&T barely even has 4G right now, I’d say that makes them even.  And anybody who needs more than 450 minutes on a single phone that isn’t used for business talks too damn much, anyway.

And let’s not even discuss AT&T’s crap customer service.  ”Hello, this is Sunjai…I’m sorry, Peggy…from AT&T customer service…”

    • Jumpsting3

Not true. All smartphones have the $10 charge now whether 4g or 3g.

    • Anonymous

huh, the only time I had difficulty understanding anyone from cs was when I got a bi-lingual specialist from one of the south west call centers

    • Baller

Yeah Sprint is the cheapest, until you sign up with them and get your first bill. Read the fine print. They tell you “we give you unlimited everything for only $99.99″, yeah fuckin right. Look at the fine print and look at your bills. This is directly from Sprints website ” If you pick a smartphone, our $10 Premium Data add-on charge will apply”. ” Monthly Charges exclude Sprint Surcharges of up to 14.9% and an administrative charge of 1.99/line/mo. Sprint surcharges are not taxes or gov’t required charges.”  So in other words your $99.99 plan just became $128.39 and thats not including taxes or local fees. Its so sad that they are basically paying customers to sign up with them and yet they still lose more postpaid customers than they sign up. Fuck sprint, they are fucking liars and there customer svc are idiots. By the way 60 % of sprint customer svc is based in either india or in the philippines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit.

Has anyone actually seen a BlackBerry Style in the wild.  I never have so I am not convinced that this phone actually exists.

    • http://about.me/brandonmccall brandonmccall

When is the last time you saw any BlackBerry in the wild?

    • Matthew

I have seen them my parents got them, its just a blackberry except a flip phone.  Older people are the only ones that really buy blackberries because they dont know any better.

hmmm…. the HTC Evo 4g could replace my HD7. The Samsung Epic 4g or Evo Shift 4g could replace my other half’s G2, and the Evo View could replace my Dell Streak 7.

very tempting. I for one do not like the Death Star Network.  A T-Mo rep recently bragged they could handle their customers and ATT’s at the same time on T-Mo’s network. Be careful what you ask for.

    • http://twitter.com/WillieFDiazSF William Diaz ✔

The reason why T-Mobile would say they can handle their own customers AND AT&Ts customers at the same time is likely because T-Mobile has working HSPA+ where as AT&T only has it in some areas. HSPA+ actually quadruples capacity, not to mention T-Mobile has laid out the backhaul, AT&T hasnt in most areas… T-Mobile is working on MIMO and Multi-Carrier HSPA+, AT&T is still working to get the basic HSPA+ going… MIMO and Multi-Carrier also change things up at the point it also will handle more data at higher speeds, meaning less time using the network meaning less people getting slower speeds.

So yeh, Im almost certain T-Mobile could handle AT&T’s traffic. I couldnt be any worse than AT&T is in the city Im in anyway.

  • Maniac

A damaged company recently done hemorrhaging that still feels the need to give the house away to gain market share… if you build a better house do you sell it for less… if you build a better car would you sell it below market value… Sprint had their shot at TMo… Sad… Sprint “BUILD YOUR NETWORK” and come back to market like a big boy…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Eric-Kroh/509408139 Eric Kroh

their CS sooo isnt worth the hastle!!

  • DanK

I have been a Sprint customer for 16 years.. since the days of Sprint Spectrum(GSM carrier).  I did get automatic 25% discount every month.  Three lines with unlimited call and data for less than $120.  But I left for T-Mobile because over the past 5 years Sprint service was getting worse in my area.  Customer service was also poor.  If the service quality improved, I would not have left.  Yes, Sprint is definitely cheaper than others.

  • Anonymous

looks interesting since the exp date of this offer is july 23, hopefully this means the Sansung Galaxy S II is about a month away!

  • http://www.facebook.com/matt.mingkee Matt Tsui

If Sprint runs on SIM based HSPA, I may consider.

    • http://twitter.com/WillieFDiazSF William Diaz ✔

The closest thing to HSPA or SIM status that Sprint will get is LTE and then you will have a SIM card for 4G LTE as well as an MEID number for CDMA. The SIM card will apply to data only, at least until Sprint deploys VoLTE.
