BlackBerry Bold 9900 won’t launch until September

Exclusive

BlackBerry fans will just have to keep waiting for the company’s latest and greatest handset. We have confirmed with multiple sources that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 won’t be launching until September globally. While an announcement at BlackBerry World was inevitable, it still hurts to see RIM struggle to get devices out the door swiftly. RIM announced that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 would be available in the “summer” from carrier’s globally when the product was unveiled at BlackBerry World.

P.S. We have heard RIM might have one more major OS release in the cards, possibly BlackBerry OS 7.5, before the launch of QNX on smartphones.

they are delaying because of the upcoming release of IOS 5 from apple in July. Duh! I’m a BB person but you have to admit they are going to get smashed if its released in the same month as apple. Hence.. the smarter thing, wait another 2 more months when the I0S 5 hype has declined. Smart one BB. Either that or too many pre-orders for the 9900 currently. Including myself.

BGR is about as reliable when it comes to RIM as the Enquirer is to the NY Times….”Globally” key word here. Oct 21, 2009 RIM announces Bold 9700 coming worldwide BEGINNING November 2009…North America gets the Bold 9700 Nov 02, 2009….Japan dosn’t recieve the Bold 9700 until July 30th, 2010! So you could say back then, “Bold 9700 NOT launching GLOBALLY until July 2010!!!” The Bold 9900/9930 WILL be released sooner…between July 1st-August 02nd WORLDWIDE. BGR is definatly NOT a BlackBerry lover.

I read BGR Exclusives to learn how to create something out of nothing.

I don’t know why people get so up in arms about a BlackBerry device releasing “possibly” a month after it was initially expected to ship.  As others have pointed out, I’d much rather the device ship a month late and have the bugs worked out instead of purchasing a new device and be screaming for that first OS patch like so many owners do with their new smartphones.  RIM needs to get the QNX phones into the hands of consumers.  THAT is the future of the company.  Everything else in the meantime is just filler.  We all know the current BB OS is well past its prime.  The BlackBerry isn’t a “fun” device.  It never will be.  It does what it does and it does it very well.  If you’re looking for a laptop in the size of a phone, you should choose an Android or iOS device.

I’ve been holding on the joy of having a new ( or even 4g ) Blackberry forever now and I have made the decision to get an Android because it’s taking a bit too long! I’m losing all my BBM contacts anyways and I’m always on my iPod via wi-fi…and iPhone is coming to Sprint soon?? Oh yeah goodbye RIM!!!

  • S hi

Hmmmm…. here we are in the second week of August and the Bold 9900 is for sale! and how is that BBOS 7.5 looking?! mwhahahah…BGR SUCKS

And here we are in August, with the Bold launched and the Torch coming out as well. Maybe you should consider obtaining information from different ”multiple sources”… oh wait, you probably make up 90% of the rumours you create. What a scam.

PS: Can’t wait for OS 7.5 before QNX too…
