Samsung: 1 million Galaxy S II units sold

mobile

Samsung announced on Monday that it has sold more than 1 million of its new Galaxy S II handsets, and that the phone has been “selling like [hotcakes].”  The Korean company said the time it took for sales to pass the 1 million milestone was the fastest of any device it has sold, and that the Galaxy S II beat the Galaxy S to that sales figure by 40 days. The Galaxy S II made its debut on April 29th, and we’re not surprised that Samsung has managed to sell one every three seconds — when we reviewed the Galaxy S II earlier this month we called it the “greatest Android smartphone available on the planet.”

Did Samsung find the 7 ugliest Asian women they could find for their line-up?

And I usually have a thing for Asian women…

    • markiz

i’m pretty sure those asian women would be considered average by asian standards. even i would not call them ugly.

      • http://www.theworldgrowsold.com Mundus Senescit

        “by asian standards” QFE lol

      • markiz

so you are saying that everywhere in the world standards of beauty are the same?

      • http://www.theworldgrowsold.com Mundus Senescit

@markiz_von_schnitzel:disqus you aren’t much for comprehension…it’s just funny that you had to qualify the statement by listing the filter through which it was accurate, i.e. “asian standards”

    • Yg3475

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

      • Anonymous

Can the same be said for ugly?

    • Youngwoo Park

My guess is that they are not the models that Samsung typically employs but actual Samsung employees (factory line workers)

Kudos to them; the hardware on that phone is stellar and a lot of people like it.

TouchWiz bashing and general Android/iOS flaming can continue as usual below.

Could it be due to the fact that it looks so much like the iPhone?

    • Anonymous

      Didn’t take long at all…

    • Anonymous

iPhanboys just can’t wrap their head around the fact that not everybody wants an iPhone. Sad, really.

      • Anonymous

Wrap ur lips around my meat stick.

      • Anonymous

“iPhanboys” (plural) would wrap their “heads,” (plural) not “head” (singular).

        You should’ve stayed in school.

        What are you babbling about?

      • Steve Hillshire

Awesome comment.  You are now qualified for that first grade teaching job where somebody cares.

      • Anonymous

You know what man I liked it better when it was that way. When I was one out of hundred thousand who had a iphone. But it’s not like that anymore is it? Not so sad.

What Perspectively is saying in short…..is that you’re a moron.

      • Anonymous

Who’s the moron here? You’re the one replying to your own comment.

      • 1T2dirtnap

Yeah, no joke. Makes me wonder how Apple manages to sale 1.7 million iPhones in the first 3 days of release when not everyone wants one.

    • Sense

Couldn’t that 1 million just have bought an iphone if they wanted one?

      • Anonymous

People that purchased the Galaxy S II wanted a super phone, not a dumb phone.

    • Anonymous

      Lol +1 CHA CHING

  • Batteman87

1/2 the congratulations should be to Apple since they apparently stole it anyway and now want to steal iPhone 5 and iPad 3 lol!

Don’t believe everything Apple tells you to believe.

Apple fans are not programmed to reject rhetoric from the mother ship.

    SAMSUNG BAD!!!! APPLE GOOD!!!!

No offence, but I wouldn’t take advice from a guy who choses “Scroat” as his user name

I would take the third one from the right. Which one would you take?

    • elduderino

      third one from the left

      • Anonymous

The third one from the left looks like something off of The X Files.

Yes. I think they all came from Ur_anus…

Come on samsung bring it to the US, please. I want this super phone!

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/2CCP6EQ3TUYUGJRQ3IVD45E6MI Aaron MC

Too bad the phone will be borked by all of the carriers when it makes it to the US.

  • Jds43000

When is this Mofo hitting US shores? No release dates, no carriers, no nothing. I’m tired of waiting.

  • Yes_iHave_an_iPhone

Ha! Only interested if it said Apple.. Apple sells like a million iPhones in half an hour. No big deal Samsung, you’ll never have that mesmerizing apple on the back of your phone, therefor you’ll never be able to compete.

    • Steve Hillshire

Only interested if it doesn’t say Apple and is not tied to iTunes (which ironicly requires a PC in this, how does Apple call it, “Post-PC” era.  You can have any phone that has to be tied to a piece of software as sucky as iTunes.

      • Anonymous

I like iTunes; am I alone here?

      • Anonymous

        Yes, you are.

      • Biggles

What are iPhone die hards that need a computer going to connect to?  A Mac.  Now do you get the strategy?  And you wonder why Apple is slated to be the first trillion dollar company.

I wish I could rob all these iPhone fanatics blind and not only would they be okay with it, they’d worship me, defend me, and fall all over themselves to throw more money my way.  The pure definition of a cult.

  • Edgard Castro

    IT’S JUST LIKE THE IPHONE!

    Except it’s much better.

  • http://www.theworldgrowsold.com Mundus Senescit

So lame, they’ve already sold 1M and you can’t even get one from a U.S. carrier. I want Verizon version (Function?) NOW!

  • Anonymous

Oh wow, OK now that makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Wow.

Third from left is the cutest and appears to be telling me and the audience, pick me pls.

I’m with you on that but someone has been overly liberal with the ‘ugly stick’…

  • Bringit

Samsung executives are reported to be required every morning and every evening to chant “thanks Apple for the blueprint that we ripped off”.

    • Biggles

And now they’re saying “go find someone else to manufacture your F-ing processors, you ungreatful SOBs”

“And that Super AMOLED display you wanted for your next iphone or ipad?  SUCK IT.”

  • Youngwoo Park

My guess is that they are not the models that Samsung typically employs but actual Samsung employees (factory line workers)

  • Anonymous

And none of them in the US.

    • Biggles

They’re holding back that torpedo for the underwhelming iPhone 4s.  Though I’m sure there will be plenty of iPhone fans eBaying their iPhone 4 to get the latest and greatest refresh with the new screen coating that increases transmittance by 0.03% and the volume button moved down 2.5mm.  The best iPhone YET.

  • http://twitter.com/dpgj dpgj

Again? Sold or shipped? (Though I think its not that difficult to really sell 1 million mobile phones)

    • http://financial-alchemist.blogspot.com Turley Muller

It’s shipped, not sold to end-consumers. Samsung uses “sold” because it records the sale when shipped to carriers. The only way to know if 1M have been bought by users would be if carriers announced it. Or, if all carriers are completely stocked out.

  • 1T2dirtnap

I think it’s sold. I’m not surprised. Apple did 1 million in 2 days.
