iPad 2 back in stock at some stores; shipping estimates improve to 2-3 weeks

Retail

Just ahead of Apple’s international launch of the iPad 2, replenishment of U.S. inventory appears to be incoming. BGR has confirmed with various Apple Store and third-party retailer locations that new shipments have begun to arrive over the past few days. Retailers we have spoken with in the New York metropolitan area appear to be receiving new units in very small quantities, and Wi-Fi iPad 2 tablets seem much easier to come by than 3G-enabled units. Apple’s online store also adjusted its shipping estimates for new orders down to 3-4 weeks from 4-5 weeks. While the short supply has lead many to believe Apple’s new iPad 2 is selling quite well, the company still hasn’t announced any sales figures.

Judging by the silence from Apple, sounds like this is a failed launch. I wouldn’t be surprised if they only sold 2-3 million at best.

    • Anonymous

Actually anything below 20 million is failure as far as the goofan (aka apple haters) analyst teams are concerned. Especially considering the xoom sold at least 10 times that in the first 7 hours.

      • Anonymous

        The xoom sold 10 total.

Sorry Gootard, but you wrong! iPad is the most popular tablet ever in the history of the computer era and will soon outsell Windows PCs! Do you know anybody who buys a Windows computer? Everybody is buying MacBook Pros! Even the Linsux nerds are buying MacBook Pros and putting Linsux on them. Plus, you don’t have to worry about fragmentation with iPads. My friend Johnny got a HTC Hero a few years ago. He found out it won’t be upgraded to Android 2.4! That’s fragmentation and why Droid is losing the mobile computing wars.

Only sold 2-3 million?! That would be incredible sales for them. It’s only been available for 2 weeks.

      “mAxiPad” = KoTeX absorbency !!!

The only failure is Apple keeping up with demand.

Last quarter Apple sold 7.3 million iPads worldwide… that works out to a little over 81,000 iPads sold every day.

I would imagine Apple is manufacturing just as many… or more… iPad 2 this quarter. They wouldn’t be making fewer iPads this quarter… would they?

And the iPad is only available in one country right now.

As usual… Apple is selling every iPad they make… is that really a failure?

      • SteveJobsAppleFan

Yeah, you tell them. Apple has big factories! I think they would make all the stuff themselves if they could. They made the Apple A4 and A5 processors, and I am starting to think they should just make everything. Make the screen, the memory bits – all of it! just make it yourselves and then you don’t have to depend on anybody else!

      • Mmason

Actually Apple help design the chip, however Samsung manufactures the chip.

That’s because they are not selling any. People are buying the xoom instead or waiting for the galaxy tabs coming out. Apple is out of luck guys. We have won!

      You’re joking right?

      • Anonymous

Why would I joke about something as sacred as our hatred for apple and our desire for them to crash and burn?

    • TheOtherGeoff

you know it’s the PlayBook everyone wants…. You saw RIM’s Stock price go wild today on anticipation of that wonderful piece of sculpture

      • http://crackberry.com/ CrackBerry Bla1ze

Not so much RIMM -10.52% after hrs.. which came after their Android app announcement and earnings call.

      • Anonymous

Why would you want the playbook when any device with android on it is as powerful as the most powerful computer you could ever want no matter the specs.

    • Matt

      I like your satire.

      • Anonymous

        What satire?

    • Anonymous

Ya there buying the xoom. Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel good. We all know the truth.

    • http://www.theworldgrowsold.com Mundus Senescit

people probably aren’t buying that many Xooms considering they’re being phased out…no more after June, but definitely worth waiting for the Tabs

  • Rudiboy

Oh ya they’re really not selling them. CLEARLY! You guys must be on fucking drugs!

BGR really reports on anything that has Apple’s name on it.

My favorite so far is the “iPhone 4 falls 1,000 feet from airplane, survives without a scratch” article. Can’t beat that kind of quality tech news. I’m gonna test if my iPod Touch has similar capabilities.

    • Anonymous

Don’t like it don’t read it. Is someone forcing you to come to the site. Call the cops and they will stop. Apple is one of the leading tech companies in the world if not the leading tech company. So there will always be apple news everywhere you turn. Don’t like it crawl under a rock.

      • http://twitter.com/UrbanEnigma Yves

Listen, I’m not a fanboy like you. I have electronics from almost every gadget maker, including Apple. I started reading BGR because they offered a wide array of tech news that covered all relevant topics. Trivial shit like this should be left for more Apple-centric sites like iLounge or everythingiCafe. While I do agree with your “Don’t like it don’t read it” statement, it gets kind of annoying when I see actual tech news being reported on Engadget/Gizmodo/Slashgear and then completely overlooked on BGR for stuff like this

      • Anonymous

Yep Apple “fanboy” since mid 80′s. This web site reports news and views always has. BGR does it’s share of reporting these same news and views of others. And yes there are a lot of Apple “fanboy” websites. It’s amazes me the hate people have for a company like Apple. And you people that like tablet computers and cellphones from others like Motorola, Samsung, HTC etc. Can thank Apple for reinventing the way cellphones and tablet computers are made as we see them today. And please don’t give me the these things were around way before Apple did it. That’s not gonna fly and you know it. The phones of today follow what the iphone started 4 years ago same goes with tablets last year. Apple reinvents and others see that it works and sells and they want a piece. Because they know there’s people like most of you who don’t like Apple for whatever reason. I swear I think some of you don’t like Apple just because. “As apple goes, the industry goes”.

      • http://twitter.com/UrbanEnigma Yves

Apple didn’t reinvent anything. They may have the best quality control and stylishness of any current gadget maker but they’re not the messiah of the tech world. There are other great products out there. I like Apple products but the industry definitely existed before them. The only reason other companies are trying to mimic what they’ve done is because they’ve found a way to make all the geek/nerd gadgets mainstream and easily accessible to the non-technical user and for that they are definitely pioneers. As a result of this, they’ve managed to make a shitload of money and, in the end, that is what technology is to these companies, a business. So of course they’re going to try to capitalize on the market Apple has opened the door to. That doesn’t mean that Apple makes the best everything though. What sells the most isn’t always what’s best. If it was, Twilight and Transformers would be winning Academy awards.

    • SteveJobsAppleFan

Sorry, but this is the Apple era! Apple is dominating in every market – PCs, tablets, mobile phones! Everybody is buying MacBooks, iPads and iPhones. I’m surprised they don’t just turn Best Buys into Apple Stores. Apple could certainly afford it! Soon, Apple will be the biggest company in the world at this rate! Steve Jobs is the Thomas Edison of the computer generation.

Damn and i just bought 10 today, ignore this apple fanboys craigslist will set you free. It is true stores are getting more and they sell out in under an hour. If you think apple is not selling them there are people still camping out for it. Tonight

Anyway i felt bad i had to return some verizon 3g because they opened up the box and sent them back to apple. Then the chick told me we just got like 50 and i was like damn. Bought all the 16gb. This story will not help we need apple fanboys to suffer for there ipad 1.5 that they crave. I almost had to beat up a grown man for being a hater as i bought what he wanted. He drove two hours to get one and i felt nothing. All the money i make on them this weekend i will blow on strippers. Next year do it again. I love u apple

    • SteveJobsAppleFan

You should be in jail. Illegal resales take money away from Steve Jobs and Apple! People like you are taking money away from Apple and now we might not even seen an iPad 3 because of bums like you.

  • APPL

They’re probably waiting for the next big Android tablet related announcement to happen, after which they’ll announce some record-setting product launch figures for the iPad-2 and steal the Android thunder ;)

  • Firetytus176

I hate this!!! Everywhere is sold out!! How am I ever gonna get an iPad 2????

  • Droid doesn’t

So after 1 week showing estimates of 4-5 weeks the estimates now show 3-4 weeks…
Good to know that being able to keep track of time is important.
Whats next? Next week we show 2-3 weeks estimate? Does Friday come after Thursday and before Saturday?

  • Ben

Apple online store, now quoting 2-3 weeks.
