iPad 2 launch attracting crowds at Fifth Avenue Apple Store in NYC [video]

Tablets

We just rolled through the Fifth Avenue Apple Store in New York City to get a feel for the hype surrounding Apple’s iPad 2 launch today. We had a chance to talk to a few people about the event, and one person told us he had been waiting in line since 6:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon — with the help of a few Red Bulls, of course. Not too far back from the start of the line, we found a couple that had only been waiting since 5:00 a.m. this morning. That’s not too bad given that crowds began lining up to wait for the iPhone 3G seven days before its debut. We’ll be stopping by the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue again tonight around 5:00 p.m. to bring you an update, so be sure to check back for some video interviews. In the meantime, feel free to check out our gallery and hit the break for a video.

UPDATE: We updated the gallery with new images after the iPad 2 went on sale — be sure to check them out!

Why did Spike Lee stand in line to buy 2 iPad 2s. Doesn’t he have someone that can do that for him? Oh wait, I think that guy is white. Oops!

Thank God! I thought it might not be popular enough. /sarcasm

LOL… yes I guess the notion is true, Android fanboys are very envious of Apple, wishing that maybe someday their beloved Android handsets will see a turnout such as the type you always see with Apple. Don’t get mad at Apple for making HIGHER quality products, instead use that pent-up jealousy to write to Samsung, HTC, Motorola etc. Let them know how bad their products lack compared to Apple, then hopefully if enough people write they will hear your cries. I would say to stop buying their products but this obviously doesn’t work. They continue to make med to low quality stuff, like my retired DINC. Man that thing was as toyish as could possibly be. The OS was awesome but the build quality… sub par. I know not to many people like Sense but I liked it, yes I’d prefer a true Google experience like I did with my DROID, which IMHO was a great first step to an iPhone in terms of build quality. Not sure what happened after that.

I wonder if you will feel the same way when Moto, HTC, BlackBerry, Sammy etc., do the same thing? We all know these companies like to copy Apple, it’s just a matter of time before they do.
