Apple iPad 2 sales to hit 30 million units, RBC forecasts

Tablets

In a note to investors on Wednesday, RBC Capital Markets Managing Director Mike Abramsky reiterated the firm’s confidence in Apple’s upcoming next-generation iPad. RBC predicts that Apple will sell 30 million iPad 2 units between April 2011 and March 2012. Apple will unveil the iPad 2 at a media event next week, and the tablet is expected to launch in late March or early April. Abramsky discusses expected hardware specifications for the iPad 2 in his note, which include a faster 1.2GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a rear camera, a front-facing camera for FaceTime video chat and a thinner, lighter case. He also notes that initial supply may be constrained due to component availability, however, which jibes with our earlier report.

What gets released first, the seemingly vaporware HTC Thunderbolt or the iPad2?

(Note: I want to buy the Thunderbolt; I’m not hating on it. But there’s no way I’m going to buy it before CTIA anymore)

Thunderbolt’s release is tomorrow. So, Thunderbolt. From Apple.

        Ha!

Android is soon going to have two recurring themes: 1) Samsung phones don’t get upgraded, and 2) Where’s the Thunderbolt?

Yawn. Will it be getting flash……If no or never is the answer, then its still a pointless mobile device for me too have. No flash, no IPad 2 for me either. Yes flash is my deal breaker. A mobile device to me, for someone that is always on the internet, must allow me to see the whole web and all web content. I don’t give a shit what Steve Jobs’ and his fan club say.

Forget flash. The ipad 2 better at least boost its webpage rendering speed. My captivate even with flash always on loads a page with no checker board well before an ipad does. It actually makes the ipad.unusable.

A lot of web sites I can’t see the whole page on the ipad, so do not know what you are talking about. Can’t watch some of the Facebook clips on an Ipad. No flash, no sale for me. Who ever want to have an Ipad because its the in thing, so be it. I will not buy a tablet without flash.

crApple story # 3; just two more left and I give up my birthday cake next Wednesday.

Just double checked the battery specs’ on the ThunderBolt: 1400 mAh!!
Not a good sign, EVOOOO is 1500 mAh!
Anyone have the actual Milliamp Hours for ThunderBolt???

I may wind up waiting for the Galaxy Tab 4G after all or just getting the XOOM; however, it would be really hard to stuff the XOOM in my pocket (there’s no room left down there).

      I count 8 today.

Hey Walter!! I know but, I made the wager on the crApple post earlier this afternoon; I didn’t count the 5 crApple posts before Noon. Q: I’m gridlocked?? I want the ThunderBolt but the battery specs’ are weak.
Then, the XOOM is too big for my pocket; I could cram it in there but, don’t like the idea of shipping to enable LTE. Just found out yesterday there’s no MotoBlur on it. Any thoughts??

The TB battery is 100mah less but the architecture of the 45nm Snapdragon MSM8655 is more efficient per clock cycle, so you will probably end up with a longer battery life anyway.
I like the XOOM but have become disenchanted with Motorola. I loved my Droid 1 but then Moto went and bit the hand that fed it, simply out of principle I don’t know that I can endorse it. I am also not hot on the lack of a USB port, or proprietary charging. Moreover there is the $20 for only 1GB of Data monthly fee, so if I did grab it, I would likely get the Wifi version, and tether it to my unlimited plan on my Inc.

PAPITO you know perfectly well as a fellow goofan (aka apple hater) that bgr needs to cater to the needs of those less fortunate than us goofans (aka apple haters.) Not everyone, especially apple fanboys, has our level of intellectual power!

Wow, i thought all these “experts” were gunna stop with all the predictions when the VZW iPhone didnt sell nearly as much as the hype and projections said it would…i guess these guys like being wrong, or they figure if they keep guessing eventually they’ll be right. =/

    • Anonymous

You’re so right. It’s actually easy to predict that any apple product is a failure and won’t sell.

      • Anonymous

Dude ur a loser…I took zero shots at Apple, i said the ppl who predict sales figures are idiots. Anyone can make guesses, the thing is if ur guesses are wrong more times than not there really isn’t any reason for those guesses.

  • Dan

Poor xoom you will be lucky to sell 2 million

    • Fannymaersk0234

Xoom will be clearly better than ipad2. scaled ipod2 has only one selling point- HYPE.
HTC Thunderbolt will be a NEW Verizon’s big hit! Don’t doubt.

Apple could try to steal Xoom’s launch and HTC’s smartphone name, trying to revenge on someone for Android huge success, Android Honeycomb and rapidly changing old good mobile playground as it looked in 2007.

  • Fail

no doubt people will buy it but those specs are full of fail.

    • Anonymous

Dude, any product from apple is always full of fail. Well said, you are a fellow goofan (aka apple hater!)

      • Fail

I’m not a goofan at all.

How, oh HOW, are third-party sales forecasts, for a product which hasn’t even been announced, newsworthy??
