mobile

T-Mobile on Tuesday announced two new entry-level smartphones from Mobile World Congress that will become available later this year. The Samsung Galaxy Mini will serve as an inexpensive smaller alternative to the Galaxy S 4G, featuring a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 600MHz processor, 150MB of internal storage, microSDHC support and the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. Featuring similar specs in an even more compact case, the T-Mobile Move will sport Android 2.2 along with a tiny 2.8-inch 320 x 240-pixel display, a 2-megapixel camera, 150MB of internal storage and microSDHC support. While firm release dates for these budget Android phones have not yet been announced, T-Mobile did confirm that the devices will launch this spring and will each cost between $50 and $75 on contract.

amazon routinely offers phones for $1 on contract (eg MyTouch slide) others are available for $50-$70. these “budget phones” make no sense for a consumer

I don’t think you get it.

These are budget phones that don’t require a $30 data plan and that can be purchased off contract under $200.

      Think prepaid crowd.

Metro PCS and Virgin both sell Android phones now so T-Mobile is trying to appeal to that demographic too.

I haven’t seen anything about not requiring a data plan, but if true, then yes. that obviously makes them sensible… then again, you can find better Android phones on eBay for under $200… but yeah

It wouldn’t require a $30 data plan… But a consumer would be able to get the 200mb plan for the device. Which may not appeal to you guys but definitely does to the people who don’t bargain hunt for phones on eBay or amazon

Great for young people on a budget. I guess all you millionaires that spend your lives posting on BGR won’t need either phone. Cool for you.

Now please stop using the recession as an excuse to not find a fucking job. No really. Go find a job.
