Samsung Omnia 7 now available to pre-order with T-Mobile UK

General

Hours before last weeks Windows Phone 7 press event, the Samsung Omnia 7 broke cover. Now, in a similar trail-blazing fashion, the Omnia 7 has become the first Windows Phone 7 handset available for pre-order in the UK. T-Mobile UK has prominently displayed the the Omnia 7 on its landing page, allowing UK subscribers to pre-order the 4-inch feature-packed smartphone. Cheaper contracts will require you to fork out up to £300 for the WP7 device. If, however, you opt for a 2-year contract at a reasonable £35 a month, you get 900 minutes, 500 texts, and unlimited internet (1GB fair usage policy)… you get the phone for an irresistible £0. The Samsung Omnia 7 boasts an impressive spec sheet and early adopters can expect delivery within the next 10 days. Let us know if you take the plunge, capiche?

it’s really sad to see that the (arguably) prettiest of the WinPho7 launch devices was totally ignored by US carriers.

instead we get a Pre knock-off from Dell and the HD7 on one carrier, while the other *CHOSE* the gimmicky one from HTC that features a slide-out speaker.

either our carriers are completely out of touch with their smartphone userbase or they’re just mocking us now.

I dunno, as always, to each their own, but the Omnia isn’t doing it for me… I know its probably just the pics and I’d have to see it in person, but that backing looks extra cheap and plasticy… like the back of a flat panel TV.

The real estate around the screen is bugging me too for some reason.

But again, to each their own. Just saying I’m not caring for it all that much is all.

I agree Oakie, the carriers have shot themselves in the foot again by not picking up some of the hottest WP7 devices an leaving them to other carriers.

Really shows them as the dumb-pipe carriers they are.

The internet allowance on the Omnia 7 is 3GB not 1GB. This is the same free booster given to Android customers and was called Web n Walk Plus but is now Mobile Broadband Plus.

Gives 3GB fair use for modem use too (WP7 does not support that though) and also gives full HSDPA/HSUPA speeds

This looks like a Sony-Ericcson Xperia X10 that got run over by a truck, mauled by a tiger and then beat with an ugly stick
