Samsung Fascinate begins arriving in Verizon warehouses, early September launch?

Rumor

Phandroid is reporting that Verizon Wireless has started taking shipments of the Samsung Fascinate into their distribution warehouses. The report has a screen shot of one of Verizon’s systems that has the SCH-I500 prominently displayed. The blog is speculating a September launch which, at least to us, seems accurate. As one of our readers pointed out, the MTV Music Awards (of all things) will be officially sponsored by the “Samsung Fascinate a Galaxy S phone” and “Verizon Wireless,” amongst other things. The show is set to air on September 12th and it is hard to imagine a high-profile sponsorship such as this not to coincide with a release of some sort.

Will it still come with Bing? I don’t like that.

WTF? Delete and install Google. It will take about 45 seconds.

    • Kyle

Bing is the default but is completely optional from what I heard.

I have no doubts that the phone is coming soon, but sadly, that screen shot is of the application that updates the phones in the store, not of the inventory system.

Bing search and Bing map. Don’t know what to think of them on android phone

Umm, download the Google Search widget and Google Maps apps from the market? Problem solved much?

      • ChocoTaco

The problem is, will it be possible to remove Bing? Or will it be bloatware only removable with root access? I would much rather simply go into manage applications in my settings and uninstall it.

you can download google maps from the market…not sure about google search

      • Fanbroid

Google Search is in there too, I stumbled upon it the other day for whatever reason.

I’m waiting for the DROID Pro II Elite edition with an LED bezel in December.

I’m not liking that Bing is default. That takes revenue from Google to Microsoft. I’m all for choices in apps, but they should take away certain Google apps and replace them.

  • Dream

Finally Ive been waiting since August 1

  • Flacofromny

Bing is the default for this phone? Why? How? When?
I’m starting to like android more n more. I hope the next version of ios is a killer one cus if is not. Bye bye iPhone. (if the new iPod touch bring the retina display, the A4 chip and the two cameras I sell my iPhone 4 and get the captive) android getting there but the lack of apps is hard to forget. It really really really sucks in the app department.

you do realize that all this is, is a picture of the Samsung flashing tool…nothing more…we all know this device is coming…but this is nothing new…VZW employees use this tool to flash prl’s and update software…do some more fact checking slick

I’ll probably pick this up once its released. I’m getting tired of this droid x. I’ve messed around with the vibrant and I like it alot

  • Hazdaz

It’s too bad that Verizon is using the same case as the T-mo version… the AT&T version of the GalaxyS has quite a better looking case. Very pocket friendly and feels sturdier in your hand than T-mo’s version.

Also, I really hope they do something with the volume on this phone… on both the AT&T and T-mo versions, the speakerphone is nearly inaudible, and the volume of the headset isn’t much better. Too bad because it would have been tops on my list if you could actually use this phone as a phone.

    • Simon

There’s an article that indicated the casing is “metallic” fwiw

    • hemdroid

I hope you’re wrong about the volume. I passed on the Droid X because of low volume and have been waiting for this phone instead. I don’t want to be let down again!

  • George Curious

It’s not the same case as the Vibrant although it is similar in form.

  • tom

I read that Verizon will disable GPS on all maps except VZ Navigator so bye bye free navigation on the Fascinate!

    • Bob

Tom, Can you provide a source?
