Facebook releases minor update to Android app, addresses battery drain issue

General

Yesterday, Facebook acknowledged that their recent Android application update — version 1.3 — contained a bug that was draining handset batteries. The post looked like this:

Hi folks, a number of you have commented on seeing a battery drain on your device since installing the new Facebook for Android app. We have identified the bug that is causing this battery drain and are working on a fix now. As soon as the patch is ready, we will push out an update. Thanks for the quick feedback and for your patience as we get this fixed!

Today, the company has released an updated version of the software — version number 1.3.1 — that, according to a subsequent Facebook post, “includes a fix for the battery drain problem some of you were running into.” Hit the Android Market to install the update. Anyone experience unexpected battery drain after installing Facebook 1.3?

That explains it! I was wondering if it was something messed up with CM 6, or if the theme I had installed was sucking juice. Stupid Facebook.

What about the lack of note editing on the program? Are they going to fix that too?

Facebook sucks! Every day that passes by, I hate it even more but I have to use it to promote my shop.

Twitter sucks too but, at least, we only get to read 140 characters of irrelevant crap related to teeth brushing and going to the gym.

Based on the user feedback here, I will hold off on updating Facebook on my Incredible for a while.

Hopefully that will solve the problem, I thought it was Froyo doing it since i updated/installed them the same night.

The one bad thing about android is that they have so many kinds of phones they make it very hard for app developer to make a good app when they have to test it on 100 different handsets. thats what make apple iphone such a soild phone is that when you are developing app there is one platform and one device.
