First look at RIM’s MySpace for BlackBerry application

Exclusive

We had wondered where this thing went, and while we still don’t have a release date for you, we’ve got an exclusive first look at the application. It’s got a pretty familiar feel to it (read: Facebook app), and even though we haven’t actually played with the software itself, it does seem to be a pretty well-executed application. You’ve got access to all the usual MySpace nonsense like your messages, friend requests, comment, photos, mood updates, and so forth. The MySpace app is also OTA-capable letting you upgrade wirelessly when there’s an updated version available, directly from the application. In true BlackBerry fashion, the app provides background push-notifications, something the Sidekick platform was the first to build with MySpace. This will, for better or worse, notify you immediately when someone shoots you a message, posts a comment, or sends whatever else you waste your time with on MySpace. One request? We’ve never used the damn thing, but integrated MySpace IM would have been nice here. Then again, we’d take a native Skype application any day over MySpace IM. So Waterloo… what do you say you get crackin’ on that? If you constantly thumb your nose at Facebook and have been slowly counting down the days until this application is released, head on over to our gallery. We’ve got a bunch of screen shots of the application for you!

I haven’t been thumbing away at Facebook in anticipation for this app. I’ve been thumbing away because Facebook is infinitely better.

Nevertheless, I am anxious for this so that I can finally avoid having to sign in onto to the horrid website for good.

This is great and all, but RIM has been really good at being ridiculously vague with giving us a release date. Any idea when? “Fall 2008″ is quite a large window.

I wonder if they are saving the launch of the app for the launch of the blackberry storm?

The reason the download most likely didnt work is because the blackberry assumes myspace to be MySpace and caps do not work in the link, type mmyspace and then go back and delete the first m, and there ya go, i had the same prob to
