Pokemon Go update for Android has a very annoying ‘feature’ – download it right now

Pokemon Go Android Update 0.31 Download

There’s a Pokemon Go update out for Android that you can download immediately. Version 0.31 is already available to fans, but not officially. You’ll have to download the update manually and apply it yourself, as it didn’t hit the Google Play store just yet.

UPDATE: Niantic’s Pokemon Go update is officially available from the App Store (at this link) and Google Play store (at this link).

Spotted by Android World, the Pokemon Go 0.31 for Android is available for download from APKMirror. The Google Play store only lists version 0.29 of the app, and the update isn’t yet available on iPhone. While it’s understandable that you may want to update your app immediately using the link above, we’d still advise you to wait a while until it’s published in the Google Play store. As for iPhone users, a similar Pokemon Go update for iOS should be on its way.

Here’s what’s supposed to be new in this update, according to the available changelog. Spoiler: there’s one very annoying feature included, can you spot it below?

  • Avatars can now be re-customized from the Trainer profile screen
  • Adjusted battle move damage values for some Pokémon
  • Refined certain Gym animations
  • Improved memory issues
  • Removed footprints of nearby Pokémon
  • Modified battle damage calculation
  • Various bug fixes during wild Pokémon encounter
  • Updated Pokémon details screen
  • Updated achievement medal images
  • Fixed issues with displaying certain map features
  • Minor text fixes

“Removed footprints of nearby Pokémon,” is the feature that’s going to give you headaches in the future. The feature wasn’t working properly as of late, and some Pokemon Go users reverted to using certain Google Maps-based “cheats” to find out where Pokemon are spawning. You might want to read more details about how that’s done at this link.

Finally, this isn’t the major Pokemon Go update Niantic talked about at Comic-Con last week, but it’s still a noteworthy one.

Chris Smith started writing about gadgets as a hobby, and before he knew it he was sharing his views on tech stuff with readers around the world. Whenever he's not writing about gadgets he miserably fails to stay away from them, although he desperately tries. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
