This could be our first look at the iPhone 7’s new design

iPhone 7 Leak

The upcoming iPhone SE might be the biggest Apple story this month, but it’s no secret that the biggest Apple story of the year will be the unveiling of the iPhone 7, a device which will likely launch in just about six months time.

While we’ve already seen no shortage of iPhone 7 rumors over the past few months, a new leak originally published by NowhereElse.fr provides us with our first glimpse as to what the slightly redesigned next-gen iPhone will look like.

DON’T MISS: Samsung, you’re copying Apple again but you’re doing it wrong

As evidenced below, the major aesthetic difference between the iPhone 6s and this purported photo of the iPhone 7’s rear chassis is that the iPhone 7 lacks the arguably unsightly antenna lines that were so prominently a part of the design used on both the iPhone 6 and 6s.

This leaked photo corroborates a previous report which indicated that Apple, with the iPhone 7, was planning to remove the antenna lines on the back while maintaining them “at the sides and around the top and bottom edges…”

Antenna lines aside, the leaker who provided NowhereElse with the photo added that the iPhone 7 “seems slightly thinner than the iPhone 6s” and that the device will in fact lack a 3.5mm headphone jack, seemingly confirming a longstanding rumor about Apple’s next-gen device. The report further adds that the old headphone jack will be replaced by a second speaker.

Notably, the leaked photo above doesn’t appear to show a dual-camera lens system, but as we reported just a few weeks ago, rumor has it that only the iPhone 7 Plus will be graced with Apple’s intriguing dual-camera system.

To provide a better idea of what the final iPhone 7 design will look like, NowhereElse put together a quick and dirty Photoshop render depicting what we will likely see once Tim Cook and co. take the stage this coming September.

If the render above turns out to be accurate, the iPhone 7 design will be a marked improvement over the company’s previous two iPhone models.

As for other iPhone 7 rumors we’ve seen sprout up over the past few months, it’s been reported that Apple’s next-gen smartphone will feature wireless charging functionality, a larger capacity battery, improved camera technology, a speedy A10 processor, and perhaps, a 256GB model.
