Evolve review: The thrill of the hunt

Our Medic is dead. The Trapper is fleeing for her life with the Monster just a step behind. The Assault is pumping as much electricity as he can into Goliath and I’m still trying to figure out how to play Support.

Fortuitously, the Monster stumbles into one of the Trapper’s traps just as I accidentally press the button that makes missiles rain down from the sky. I say accidentally because I was trying to switch weapons. I just hit the wrong button. The missiles connected; Goliath’s health dropped rapidly; our team rallied from behind and stormed back for a breathtaking victory.

One of the best console games of the last decade is coming to the iPhone and iPad

Over the past few years, the smartphone has become the most popular gaming platform in the world. Anyone with an iPhone has at least dabbled in free-to-play games, from Clash of Clans to the ubiquitous Candy Crush Saga, but there’s a growing premium market on the App Store as well, featuring ports of some of the biggest console games of the past generation. XCOM: Enemy Unknown made a successful transition to iOS last year and now 2K Games will be attempting to recreate the magic with BioShock later this summer. More →
