It was 3:27 AM on December 6th when a man decided it’s time to beat the record of consecutive green lights hit in New York City. And he got away with hitting 240 green lights in a row, if you include a yellow.

A time-lapse video of the entire experience was uploaded on Vimeo, and you can see it below.

Pulling off such a trick during daytime is practically impossible considering New York’s traffic. Even at night, the streets aren’t completely empty. As you can see in the clip that follows, it wasn’t exactly a walk in the park either, and a single obstacle at any point during this course could have prevented him from actually hitting that many green lights in a row.

But the driver snuck past traffic and pedestrians and came through. Even though it’s all happening at night, the entire thing is very impressive. It took them almost half an hour to drive around NYC in this daring quest, as you can see in the clip — the experiment ended at 3:53 AM. Luckily, the clip is just under five minutes long.

What we can’t see is how fast he was going.
