Buying a new iPad Air 2 or iPad mini? Here’s where to sell your old iPad for the most money

Apple’s 2014 iPad models are incremental updates this year, as we have all expected for months. In fact at this point it seems like everyone knows the drill. The second-generation iPad Air 2 and third-generation iPad mini both feature upgraded specs highlighted by the new A8X processor, and they also finally include Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor that was introduced last year on the iPhone 5s.

Apple fans with last year’s iPad Air or iPad mini might find it a bit difficult to open their wallets for these relatively minor upgrades, but those with a need for speed will definitely want Apple’s latest and greatest. And anyone with an older iPad model or a first-generation iPad mini will definitely want to consider a new tablet.

But don’t let those old iPads sit and collect dust. There are plenty of places you can sell your used iPads to help pay for your new ones, and a roundup published on Thursday shows the best places to go if you want top dollar for your old iPad. More →

It’s no mystery that there is far less hype leading up to today’s Apple event than there was leading up the its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unveiling back in September, but today’s special press conference is still one of the biggest events of the year for consumer tech. We won’t see any sleek new smartphones unveiled, of course, but Apple has plenty more up its sleeve for Apple fans in 2014, and the company is finally about to lay its card on the table.

So what’s in store for us today? New iPad tablets will definitely make an appearance, and we’ll absolutely see some new Mac computers debut along with OS X Yosemite release details. Apple might also have a few surprises in store, of course, so you won’t want to miss a moment of today’s big press event. More →

Leak: Is this our first look at the brand new iPad Air 2?

Apple’s huge iPhone 6 and iWatch unveiling last month was probably the most hyped event Apple has ever hosted. The leaks and rumors leading up to Apple’s September press conference were off the charts, the social media chatter on launch day was crazy, and it ended up being BGR’s single biggest day of traffic ever by a shockingly wide margin. Everyone wanted to see Apple’s new iPhones (despite the fact that we had already seen them dozens of times in leaks) and find out when they would finally launch.

Fast-forward Thursday, just one month later, and the lead up to Apple’s big iPad and Mac event seems eerily quiet. Does anyone care about tablets and computers anymore? More →

Good news, Apple fans: Apple will livestream next week’s big iPad event

New iPads? Yes. New Macs? Almost certainly. New software? Get ready for Yosemite. New iPods? Precious few people still care at this point, so we’re not sure it matters. Whatever the case may be, we can expect plenty of new products to be shown off during next week’s big event as Apple unveils the rest of its product lineup for 2014. The iPad Air will be refreshed, according to several recent leaks, and we might see an updated iPad mini as well. Beyond that, several computers in Apple’s Mac lineup are due for updates, and Yosemite should finally get a firm release date.

And for Apple fans, the best news might be the fact that you’ll be able to watch all of the action unfold live. More →

New report claims Apple’s iPad Pro will do something unthinkable

Many reports so far have revealed that Apple is working on an even bigger tablet than the 9.7-inch legacy iPad, a 12.9-inch device — the iPad Pro — that would better appeal to professionals. The device is expected to arrive in mid 2015, according to people familiar with the matter that spoke with various publications, although it’s not clear what new differentiating features the device will have to offer. Meanwhile, Digitimes has learned that Apple might be developing two iPad Pro versions and one of them will supposedly offer users the kind of operating system that Apple has vowed not to make. How to save $200 on a brand new iPad

As Apple gets ready to release its second-generation iPad Air, a third-generation iPad mini and its next-gen iPhone 6 handsets, we can expect to see some solid sales pop up for current iPhone and iPad models. It makes sense, of course — with all of that new inventory about to hit store shelves, Apple’s retail partners are looking to clear out older models before the shine completely wears off. Now, those looking for a new iPad mini or iPad Air tablet who don’t find Touch ID and a new, less reflective display terribly appealing might have just gotten the kick they need to finally pull the trigger and buy one.
