As Internet-addicted shut-ins, many of us don’t spend enough time exploring nature in all of its glory. Thankfully, YouTube gives us a window through which we can view the outside world, as is the case with this unbelievable video of molten lava spilling into the ocean.

We’ve all seen volcanic explosions and the flow of lava in science class or on the History channel, but to see raw footage of the occurrence up-close is a different experience entirely. The camera couldn’t have gotten much closer to the lava without actually touching it. As the video description explains:

“Rare footage of lava entering the ocean from a very unique, dangerous and up-close angle. The creation of new land right before your very eyes on the rugged volcanic coastline on the island of Hawaii.”

And in case you were wondering —  yes, a majority of the comments below the video are jokes about generating cobblestone in Minecraft. As if there was any chance that wouldn’t be the case.

If you were as captivated by the video as we were, be sure to check out Kawika Singson’s YouTube channel for even more incredible footage of nature, including a few additional lava videos that are just as enchanting as the one we shared above.
