Following BGR’s exclusive report detailing Sprint’s plans ahead of the CTIA Wireless 2011 conference, Sprint confirmed that it would launch a 4G WiMAX-enabled version of the BlackBerry PlayBook this summer. We also said Sprint would first carry the Wi-Fi-only version of the PlayBook. Now, technology enthusiast blog Spantechular claims to have received an internal document from Sprint that pegs May 8th as Sprint’s launch date for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Sprint’s pricing for the Wi-Fi PlayBook will be in line with current retail pricing starting at $499.99 according to another leaked document.

Post updated to reflect that this is the Wi-Fi model and not the 4G model.
