Samsung (005930) on Wednesday filed an injunction request against rival manufacturer LG Display (LPL), weeks after six LG employes were charged with stealing its advanced OLED TV display technology. According to the Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean manufacturer is now demanding 1 billion won, or $880,514, from LG in compensation for each time LG either allegedly used the confidential OLED technology for its own products or shared it with third parties. LG had previously said that it does not need Samsung’s technology because it “works under a totally different display system,” and the company has threatened to sue the Samsung for defamation in the future.
