Don’t buy Samsung’s metal Galaxy Alpha when it launches

Even if you’re interested in buying Samsung’s new somewhat-metallic Galaxy Alpha smartphone, you should probably wait a little bit before picking it up. The reason? There might be an even better version of the device on the way.

SamMobile’s sources claim that Samsung is planning to release up to three more versions of the Galaxy Alpha this year alone and that some of them might offer superior specs to the Galaxy Alpha. According to SamMobile, one of the devices will be more budget-oriented and will feature a qHD display while the other two devices will have full HD displays. What’s more, SamMobile says that it’s likely that these new phones “will feature better front cameras than existing devices – we’re guessing these will have a higher resolution than normal front cameras, like the 3.7-megapixel camera that will debut on the Galaxy Note 4.”

The Galaxy Alpha, which Samsung unveiled earlier this month, features a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, an octa-core processor that combines two quad-core processors that run at 1.8GHz and 1.3GHz, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1,860 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The device will officially release next month alongside the Galaxy Note 4.
