You’ve probably heard how toilet water swirls differently depending on what hemisphere you’re in, but do you really know why that happens? Luckily, two YouTube channels partnered up to create a unique video experience to explain the phenomenon.

Destin from Smarter Every Day and Derek from Veritasium took it upon themselves to check whether water indeed swirls differently by recording two videos in the Northern and Southern hemispheres of water going down a drain.

You can watch either video separately to get a sense of what’s happening, but in order to truly enjoy a unique experience, you’ll have to watch both videos at exactly the same time – that’s right, Destin and Derek synced the videos and they should be played simultaneously.

Both videos follow below, where you can play them simultaneously. What you need to do is start the first video until the “synchronize videos” image appears. That’s when you pause the first video. Then you start playing the second video, where you’ll wait for the same image to appear. Without stopping the second clip when “synchronize videos” is displayed, move the mouse over on the play button of the first video and click play on that one as well. Enjoy!
