Nike FuelBand settlement pays $15 to $25 for owners

Nike Apple Fuelband Class Action Settlement

Did you buy one or more FuelBands from Nike or the Apple Store at any point between January 19th, 2012 and June 17th, 2015? If you answered yes, then you should know you’re entitled to some money back from Nike — either $15 in cash or a $25 gift card.

Nike and Apple both agreed to settle a class action case against them, though it’s only Nike that’s forking out the $2.4 million to customers.

According to ModernReaders, buyers have until January 4th, 2016 to claim the cash payout or gift card, and they can claim as many as either, based on the number of FuelBands they bought.

The gift card can only be used in the U.S., Puerto Rico and online stores.

What’s wrong with the FuelBand, you ask? Plaintiffs led by Carolyn Levin claim that it doesn’t accurately track calorie burn, steps or overall activity, and that both Nike and Apple knew about it but kept selling it in stores.

Customers who aren’t satisfied with the amount Nike will be paying can object to the terms of the settlement following the list of instructions provided in the official legal notice.
