The Nexus 5 is back in stock on Google Play, and still a tremendous deal

The Nexus 5 might not be the number one choice anymore for smartphone buyers looking for a new device, but the 2013 Nexus handset could still be a dependable and affordable option for anyone interested in purchasing a brand new handset. Android Police reports that the handset is back in stock on the U.S. Google Play Store.

FROM EARLIER: The Nexus 6 is missing a major feature and it’s all Apple’s fault

Unfortunately, buyers can only choose between the black 16GB and 32GB versions, which cost $349.99 and $399.99, respectively, and which ship in one to two business days.

Nevertheless, regardless of case color options, the Nexus 5 is still an interesting proposition, especially for Android fans looking a device that’s guaranteed to get fast software updates for some time to come — the phone is currently running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop build. The handset might not be on par with more recent flagship devices from the competition when it comes to hardware, but it’s still one of the best handsets sold in the past year.

Finally, the Nexus 5 is significantly cheaper than the Nexus 6 when purchased unlocked at full price, which makes the handset a great deal for Android fans shopping specifically for Nexus handsets. Obviously, the Nexus 5 can be purchased for an even cheaper price from auction and trade-in sites, as long as buyers don’t mind getting an already used handset.
