Google’s next version of Android now rolling out to Nexus 5 and Nexus 7

Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat

T-Mobile has revealed on its support pages that both the Nexus 5 smartphone and the 2013 version of the Nexus 7 tablet are expected to receive their respective Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates starting Monday, Android Police reports, although Google has yet to actually confirm these updates.

According to T-Mobile’s support pages, the Nexus 5 will be updated to Android 4.4.3 version KTU84M, which is a 54MB update and will only bring users a few security enhancements and bug fixes. Major new features aren’t expected in this KitKat version.

Similarly, the Nexus 7 (2013) will be updated to version KTU84L, also a 54MB download that’s only supposed to fix certain bugs and improve the security of the device.

A change log for the Android 4.4.3 update has been leaked in the past, and Sprint has announced a similar update a few months ago, although the update was never rolled out.

Both updates should be available as over-the-air (OTA) downloads according to T-Mobile, assuming Google is indeed ready to roll them out. Other Nexus devices and Google Play Edition handsets and tablets should also be upgraded to Android 4.4.3 in the near future, once the update starts rolling out.
