The UMPC/Netbook market has become something of a spectacle in the past year, with almost every major hardware manufacturer angling for the hearts of budget and space conscious consumers across the globe. Sony, however, has been notable absent from the sub-compact genre, so news of their upcoming Vaio P has been met with considerable interest. Thanks to a German fan site, we’ve got a bit more info about the soon-to-be-released netbook. The Vaio P will sport an Atom Z250 processor most likely running at 1.33 ghz, 2GB of RAM, a stock HDD with an SSD ugrade option, GPS, UMTS connectivity, and more. All of this goodness should hit the streets for around $970, which is significantly higher than the average netbook, but certainly in keeping with Sony’s premium Vaio line of products. No word on a specific launch, but expect to see this thing go official sometime during next week’s CES festivities.
