One of the most interesting features of iOS 8 – at least to some potential iPhone buyers – is support for third-party keyboards, which Apple is ready to introduce for the first time ever. Once iOS 8 is officially released following the iPhone 6 announcement next week, various third-party keyboards will likely be launched in the App Store, including one particular app that’s already popular on Android devices.

Dubbed Minuum, the keyboard app offers Android users access to a predictive keyboard that also happens to take up a lot less space on the screen than any other keyboard app in order to free up more screen real estate for the content the user is actually interested in seeing while typing. Minuum has even come up with a concept for the Moto 360 smartwatch based on its existing Android app.

Despite delivering a smaller virtual keyboard to smartphone users,Minuum is still able to offer them the same set of smart features, MobileSyrup reports. “We’ve embraced the design philosophies of iOS to refine Minuum into an elegant typing experience centered around our incredibly powerful auto-correct,” the company wrote.

The iOS 8 version of Minuum will support both a full mode and a mini keyboard mode, complete with auto-correct and predictive features.

The app will likely be released once iOS 8 becomes available, but the company is already recruiting testers on its website for early access.
