Apple’s new iPhone 6s models look poised to set a new iPhone sales record this weekend. Foursquare and Swarm have been working together to utilize information gleaned from their apps to better analyze foot traffic at Apple retail stores across the globe. Based on some preliminary findings, they anticipate that iPhone sales this weekend will fall in the 11 to 13 million unit range.

“Based off of early indicators, we predict that launch day traffic will be about 360 percent higher than preceding weeks. This likely means that iPhone sales will surpass previous records, in the 11 to 13 million range,” the two companies explained in a report originally cited by Computerworld.

If Apple does end up selling 13 million iPhones this weekend, it would represent a huge success while also indicating that iPhone demand is stronger than ever before. For some added context, the iPhone 6 sold 10 million units during its opening sales weekend while initial iPhone 5s sales topped 9 million. Put differently, a 13 million sales weekend would represent an incredible 30% increase in sales year over year.

While such a figure might seem ambitious, the evidence we’ve seen thus far certainly points to Apple enjoying a monster sales weekend. Just this week, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said that iPhone pre-orders this year are up more than 30% than they were with the iPhone 6. Additionally,

Additionally, even Apple has come out and said that it believes that iPhone 6s sales will top last year’s 10 million unit sales record.
