iPhone 6s launch: These are the 5 iPhones Apple will be selling in September

August 28th, 2015 at 2:50 PM
iPhone 6s, 6c, 6, 5s, 5c 2015 Fall Lineup

Apple will announce the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on September 9th, with the devices expected to go a little over a week later on September 18th. But what happens to the rest of Apple’s iPhone lineup once the new models are released?

DON’T MISS: A new revelation from that leaked iPhone 6s box (no, it’s not good news)

Sources familiar with Apple’s plans have told 9to5Mac that Apple will sell five iPhone models in stores this fall, including the 2013 iPhone 5s, the 2014 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and the brand new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The blog says that while a new 4-inch iPhone 6c is indeed in the works, the phone wasn’t completed in time for a September announcement, suggesting that previous leaks claiming the phone might be released in late October or early November might be accurate. The iPhone 6c will have the same capabilities as the iPhone 6, 9to5Mac also noted.

Interestingly, the company had reportedly also been working on a brand new 3.5-inch iPhone model, but it doesn’t look like Apple is planning to move forward with the device.

The colorful iPhone 5c that Apple released in 2013 is going away for good, at least in major markets. The phone might remain available in some emerging markets, but it’s not clear if that will be the case.

So, the iPhone 5s will become the cheapest iPhone in Apple’s lineup – free when purchased with a new contract – while last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models will cost $100 less than their respective iPhone 6s counterparts.
