Hurricane Sandy could delay iPad mini shipments to states hit hard by storm

Customers living on the east coast looking to make a Hurricane Sandy-dominated week better with a shiny new iPad mini might be in for disappointment. While Apple (AAPL) has already sent out email confirmations that iPad minis have shipped out, FedEx and UPS have both posted warnings that it might be unable to deliver the goods by the November 2nd. According to FedEx’s website, “Unavoidable service delays should be expected due to local road conditions in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.”

UPS also posted the following service alert regarding locations that will face delays in package deliveries and zip codes where packages will not be delivered at all for the time being:
