We all still have a few days to wait until our iPhone 6 and 6 Plus shipments begin arriving, but the final release of iOS 8 is just hours away. At some point on Wednesday, likely around 1 p.m. ET, Apple will roll out the latest update for its mobile operating system, but there’s a slight chance that one of its most anticipated new features won’t be ready for primetime.

MacRumors has gathered up reports from several iOS developers who have found that their extensions aren’t functioning properly on the gold master release of iOS 8. Omni Group CEO Ken Case tweeted on Monday that even though the new extensions for OmniFocus 2 had been functional during development and in TestFlight, they weren’t working after having been released for download.

James Thomson, developer of popular iPhone calculator app PCalc, found that his widgets weren’t appearing in the Today view on the version of his app downloaded from the App Store either. After speaking with Apple, he tweeted the following:

“Have had word from Apple that Top Men are working on getting extensions functioning.”

Top. Men.

These both sound like very worrying issues considering iOS 8 is less than 24 hours from an official release, but iOS developer David Smith believes that final version of the software won’t be plagued with the same issues:

We’ll find out tomorrow whether or not Apple was able to corral all the bugs in iOS 8 in time for the September 17th launch.
