Intel, Google announce plans to become more energy efficient

We here at BGR would like to think that Intel and Google stay up to date with the latest in any tech that’s not their own by coming here and reading up. So, imagine their surprise when they saw this post and realized it had everything to do with them! In a press conference a couple days ago, Urs Hölzle, senior vice president of operations at Google, said that by 2010, a new Climate Savers Computing Initiative will seek to reduce global computer-based CO2 emissions by 54 million tons per year (the output of about 11 million cars annually). “Today, the average desktop PC wastes nearly half of its power, and the average server wastes one-third of its power,” said Hölzle during the presentation.
