If you’ve started noticing more and more male nipples plastered on all sorts of pictures of naked or partially undressed women, you’re probably wondering why it’s happening. The answer is pretty straightforward: Instagram and other social networks can tell the differences between male and female nipples, and only the former is allowed to appear in images.

Instagram has a harsh stance against women breasts, as they’re apparently too sexual. Facebook will take down any pictures showing female nipples if they’re not part of photos of breastfeeding or post-mastectomy results.

However, women of Instagram are protesting this absurd decision by posting topless pictures of themselves with male nipples pasted over their own.

In fact, there’s a male nipple template tool that can be applied to images to make them Facebook and Instagram-friendly. And more and more women of Instagram are using it to beat the social network at its own game, Mashable reports.

The #FreeTheNipple campaign is still going strong, so don’t be surprised or enraged to see male nipples pop all over Instagram and other services. Apparently, it’s okay to see them, so here are some examples.

If you need the male nipple template for your own pictures, you can find it linked below.
