Google stops selling one of the best Android phones of all time

Google Nexus 5 Sales

All good things must come to an end and we’re very sad to learn that Google has officially stopped selling the Nexus 5, which should go down as one of the best Android phones ever made. Google has told The Verge that “while some inventory of Nexus 5 still exists (with our retail and carrier partners), our focus is on the Nexus 6 at this time.” The Verge has also found that you can no longer buy the Nexus 5 through any official Google channels, which means Google has for all intents and purposes stopped selling the phone.

Why will we miss the Nexus 5 so much? For a lot of reasons.

First, its 4.95-inch display made it pretty much the perfect size for an Android phone. So while the Nexus 4’s display was too small and the Nexus 6 is simply uncomfortable to hold for many people because it’s so big, the Nexus 5 is a Goldilocks-style just right size.

Additionally, LG’s excellent design prowess means that the Nexus 5 has virtually no side bezels, which makes the Nexus 5 feel like a smaller device than it should be given its large display.

And like all Nexus devices, the Nexus 5 runs on stock Android, which means it’s not only free of carrier and OEM bloatware but that it also gets updated to the latest software much more quickly than other Android phones.

So long, Nexus 5. Hopefully Google will come out with a worthy successor to you sometime this year, but for now you were one of a kind.
