Early details on Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S6 may have been revealed

Galaxy S6 Rumors: Project Zero

Samsung is reportedly working on its next big thing, SamMobile has learned from unnamed sources, which is called “Project Zero” internally. According to the report, Project Zero is the codename of the Galaxy S6, the next flagship handset Samsung is expected to debut early next year. However, the publication points out that Samsung has chosen a special project name for it because it plans to completely redesign its sixth-generation Galaxy S model following the unfavorable reception for its previous two models, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy S6 is apparently in its early stages of development, so specs and features aren’t available for it at this time. SamMobile says Samsung is developing the Galaxy S6 “from scratch with an entirely new vision,” according to the blog’s sources.

Previous Galaxy S and Galaxy Note versions had a different internal codename scheme, involving letters: Project J for the Galaxy S4, Project K for the Galaxy S5, or Project T for the Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung has recently proven that it’s willing to reexamine the materials it uses for in its phones by finally replacing plastic with metal, first on the Galaxy Alpha (partially) and then on the Galaxy A3 and A5 (both devices have metal unibody cases). The move may have been motivated by financial results that show huge declines in profit rather than public opinion.

Then again, it might be too early to get our hopes up. Samsung already talked about “change” when launching the Galaxy S5, which was supposed to offer a different experience compared to previous Galaxy S models.
