Samsung is reportedly working on bringing the most recent version of Lollipop to many of its devices, including both flagship phones and mid-range devices. SamMobile has learned that the brand new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge handsets, which are already shipping with Android 5.0 on board, will be upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop in the future.

Similarly, the Galaxy Grand Prime will get its own Android 5.1 build and Galaxy A series devices are supposed to receive the Android 5.0 update. Other Samsung devices including the Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy Mega 2 will also receive software upgrades in the future, and even the 2012 Galaxy Note 2 might get its own Lollipop flavor.

While this is certainly good news to existing Samsung customers who own these devices, especially Galaxy S6 buyers looking to receive Google’s latest OS update as fast as possible, the publication doesn’t specify any launch date details for these upcoming Android 5.0 and Android 5.1 builds.

Traditionally, Samsung has not been the fastest Android device maker to roll out Android updates, although carriers also have a hand in delaying these updates.

Various versions of Samsung’s former flagship handsets, including the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4, are already running Lollipop in multiple markets, and will likely continue to receive updates in the future as well.
