Galaxy S5 Sales

Will the Galaxy S5 find huge success and erase any memory of the S4’s lackluster sales performance last year? It’s far too early to know for certain, of course, but a new report suggests that Samsung’s latest flagship phone is off to an impressive start, with launch-day sales that not only topped last year’s Galaxy S4, but even doubled S4 sales in some markets.

Carriers’ preorder systems helped eager Samsung fans in the U.S. avoid having to line up for the new device in the States, but we saw last week that huge lines were forming in some other regions around the world. Now, Korean-language ZDNet Korea reports that launch-day sales of Samsung’s latest flagship phone were quite impressive.

According to the site’s report, launch-day Galaxy S5 sales in regions across Europe were between 30% and 100% higher than Galaxy S4 sales were last year on the day the phone was released. The report noted that sell-outs were recorded in many stores across the region, and it said sales were very strong in Australia and India as well.

ZDNet Korea also says it spoke with Samsung, with an unnamed company representative having stated that Galaxy S5 sales have already climbed into the millions. No firm sales figures were provided in the report, however.
