Samsung is getting ready to fight the iPhone 6 with a new kind of flagship handsetor at least mid- to high-end devicethat’s going to ditch some plastic in favor of some metal. The Galaxy Alpha, whose specs and design have been leaked already, has appeared on Weibo in an extensive set of images that show the device from every angle, including its metal edges.

FROM EARLIER: This is the metal Galaxy S5 you’ve been waiting for… without the metal

The Galaxy Alpha is supposed to be a 4.8-inch smartphone that will pack a 1280 x 720 display, octa-core Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of memory (no microSD expansion), 12-megapixel camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, heart rate sensor and Android KitKat on board with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top.

Interestingly, the same Weibo source says that Samsung may have a bigger Galaxy Alpha model in the works as well, a 6.7-inch smartphone almost as big as Samsung’s new 7-inch smartphones.

When it comes to design, the Galaxy Alpha will have metal on the sides, similar to various iPhone models, and what looks like a plastic back with a special pattern on it. From the looks of it, the Galaxy Alpha will be available at least in two color options at launch, including the white model in these new leaked images, and the black model spotted in a previous series of images.

Some of these newly leaked Galaxy Alpha images follow, with more available at the source link.
