The Flappy Bird saga may be the stupidest phenomenon the world has seen since Linsanity but it’s definitely a phenomenon nonetheless. App Annie points out that Flappy Bird clones are now the No. 1 games on iOS charts in more than 30 different countries including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Germany and France.

The most popular Flappy Bird clone is called Fly Birdie — Flappy Bird Flyer and tops the iOS charts in all of the aforementioned markets. Other popular Flappy Bird knockoffs include Flappy Bee, Fluffy Vs. Flappy Birds and Flappy Plane. Flappy Bird mania is particularly acute in Macedonia, of all places, where Flappy clones account for all of the top 3 apps on the iOS chart.

What this means is anyone looking around the App Store for innovative new games should probably wait at least a week because if you try right now you’ll get deluged with mobile games that are so cheaply made that they make Candy Crush Saga look like Bioshock Infinite by comparison.
