EA gives Microsoft a reprieve from game developer anger, embraces Windows Phone 8

Although some outspoken game developers have recently delivered some harsh criticism of Microsoft’s (MSFT) impending Windows 8 personal computer platform, Electronic Arts (EA) thinks that the smartphone version of the platform works just fine. Bloomberg reports that EA sees Windows Phone 8 as “central to its handset strategy” and is in talks with Microsoft to bring its mobile games to the platform. Being embraced by EA, the second-largest video game company in the United States, would certainly be welcomed by Microsoft, which has come under fire from big-name game developers such as Valve and Activision Blizzard that have claimed Windows 8 will be detrimental to the PC gaming business.
