Already own a G1 and disappointed that the G1 Developer version is now out? Be sad no longer as the bootloader for the G1 Developer version is now in the wild. Supposedly T-Mobile unwittingly provided a G1 Developer version as a warranty replacement to an adept hacker, with a little help from his friends, the proud new owner proceeded to then extract the unlocked bootloader from the phone and provide it to the masses. The instructions to convert your regular G1 to an unlocked developer G1 are amazingly simple. First, you need to have root access to your G1. Once you have downloaded and applied the unlocked bootloader to your phone, you are done. Boot with the power and camera button held down and you should see the skateboarding Androids above instead of the typical tri-color bootloader screen. Give yourself a little pat on the back as your regular G1 is now transformed into a developer G1. Stern warnings that this could brick your G1 always apply when you are flashing your phone so proceed with caution. If any of you out there dare to attempt this, let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks, Neerhaj!
