Samsung may really want to settle with Apple soon because it doesn’t look like things are getting better for the Korean smartphone titan when it comes to patent lawsuits. FOSS Patents notes that Judge Lucy Koh has tossed out one of Samsung’s complaints about alleged Apple patent infringement in part because Samsung first acquired the patent five months after its patent dispute with Apple started, which suggests that Samsung got the patent solely to use as a legal weapon against Apple. Koh also ruled that Samsung had blatantly infringed upon an Apple patent that detailed the iPhone’s autocompletion system, which FOSS Patents says could create problems for other Android vendors as well.
