Apple kicked off a new trade-in program that lets iPad owners turn in their older tablet models for credit that will count towards a new iOS device purchase, The Next Web reports. The offer is good for old devices, including iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 and first-gen iPad mini, which can all be traded in, while the current-generation iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display won’t be accepted by Apple retail store employees.
The iPad trade-in program is available in UK, France, Germany and Spain, with users having to go to a local Apple store to trade in their devices. The trade-in value for older iPads will vary depending on tablet age and condition, and will be determined by Apple Store employees.
Apple is apparently advertising the program on its local websites as well, encouraging users to trade up to a newer iPhone or iPads via its Reuse and Recycling Program.
A recent report revealed Apple is conducting an ample iPhone trade-in campaign in order to convince existing iPhone users to switch to a 2013 iPhone model. Additionally, other retailers including Target and Best Buy have kicked off their own iPhone trade-in promotions, significantly discounting Apple’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in the process.
