Looking for a good reason to sign up for a Spotify Premium account? How about a free Chromecast? Spotify announced this week that new subscribers will be able to pay for three months of Premium up front and receive a free Chromecast Audio. The offer is available to U.S. and U.K. subscribers through February 28th or until supplies run out.

This collaboration between Google and Spotify appears to be in celebration of Spotify’s support for the Chromecast, which the streaming music service announced late last year. The device in question also appears to be a Chromecast Audio rather than the standard Chromecast, which makes sense, but isn’t made clear on the offer page.

Also worth noting is the fact that you can buy a Chromecast Audio from Google for just $35, so massive savings aren’t the key to this offer. On the other hand, if you were thinking about subscribing anyway, you might as well take the free swag.

Although the timing is almost certainly coincidental, with all the confusion and anger surrounding the Tidal-exclusive release of Kanye West’s new album this week, Spotify picked a great time to offer free stuff in return for a subscription.

At the latest count, Spotify has nearly 30 million paying members, while Apple Music is just now passing 10 million subscribers and Tidal has yet to release an updated subscriber count since it eclipsed 1 million paid users last October.
