Fifteen years after Tobey Maguire helped kick off the wave of comic book movie popularity in Spider-Man, the webhead is getting his own movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Tuesday, Marvel released the second trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, giving us our first look at Michael Keaton as the Vulture.
We were first introduced to this latest iteration of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, where Tony Stark found him living in Queens and recruited him to be a part of his faction. Now that the civil war is over, Parker is struggling to come to terms with his identity and how he fits in this hero-filled world:
Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
Spider-Man Homecoming
will be the second of three MCU films in 2017. The first is Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 in May, and the third is Thor: Ragnarok in November. All three films, along with Black Panther next February, will build up to Avengers: Infinity War in the summer of 2018.
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th, 2017.
