Netflix helps parents trick kids into going to bed early on New Year’s Eve

Netflix New Year's Eve Countdown

Trying to convince a kid to go to bed before midnight on New Year’s Eve is like pulling teeth, but thanks to Netflix, you don’t have to do it alone. Continuing a tradition that began last year, the streaming service this week released a series of videos counting down to 2017 featuring characters from popular, kid-friendly Netflix shows like Fuller House, Skylanders Academy and Puffin Rock.

Here’s the thing about those countdown videos: you can play them whenever you like! Getting tired at 9PM? Pop on the Word Party countdown. Can’t keep your eyes open at 11PM? The Beat Bugs are here to help.

It’s an incredibly clever (if deceptive) way to get exhausted kids to bed early without feeling like they missed out on the main event, but depending on how old your kids are, it might take some convincing.

Here’s the full list of countdowns, all of which you can click to go straight to them:

Some of these are more childish than others, so you might want to preview a few before you pick one for your kids. Whatever you decide to do for New Year’s Eve (whether it involves tricking your kids with Netflix videos or not), we wish you a stress-free evening!
