It’s time to ditch Windows (and Mac)

Look, it’s high time we stop beating around the bush. Once upon a time the consumer desktop and laptop computer market was a two-horse town. You could buy a Windows machine, or you could buy a Mac. Sure, Linux was lurking around somewhere also, but for most people it was never really an option. In 2016 though, there is a viable third option and its name is Chrome. Google’s Chrome OS is perfect for browsing the web, emails, streaming media from sites like YouTube and Netflix, and even work. Put it this way: Unless you’re rendering 3D models using some crazy $2,000 software, a Chromebook is probably fine for you

The Chrome computer platform has come a long way in a short period of time, and it’s probably the only operating system you should consider if value is your #1 priority. Here’s a perfect example: For a limited time, you can get a Toshiba CB35-B3340 13.3 Inch Chromebook with a 13.3″ Full HD display, 4GB of RAM, a 2.16GHz Intel Celron processor and a ridiculous 9 hours of battery life for just $270.

Here are some highlights:

  • Intel Celeron Processor N2840
  • 4 GB DDR3L SDRAM memory, 9-hour battery life
  • Can Open/edit MS Office Files Using Free Embedded Quickoffice Editor or Google Docs, and Can Download Microsoft Office Online (an Online Version of Microsoft Office) for Free. Cannot Install Standard MS Office Software
  • 16 GB Solid-state Drive (SSD)
  • 13-inch IPS Screen, Intel HD graphics

Note that while a 16GB SSD drive is pretty small, this notebook has an SD card slot so you can add a ton of storage for next to nothing. For example, here’s a Class 10 SD card with 128GB of space on sale for just $41.99.
