There’s no question that Amazon made the correct decision by postponing Prime day. We’re still not sure exactly when the nation’s top online retailer will host its biggest sales event of the season, but early July was definitely going to be too soon. More than 40 million Americans are still unemployed right now and while that figure is definitely expected to drop in the coming weeks, even people who are able to go back to work following coronavirus layoffs aren’t yet going to be ready to blow a bunch of cash on nonessential products.
That said, lockdown restrictions are now easing across the country, and that means many people are finally able to go back to work right now. What’s more, people are finally able to visit with friends and family they’ve had to isolate from for the past 3 months. You absolutely still need to wear a face mask and you of course still need to practice social distancing as well, but it’s terrific that people are finally able to work and socialize again. That said, it also means you have to clean yourself up a bit so you don’t look like a neanderthal when you do finally rejoin society.
