Now that we are officially in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, we have to start coming to terms with our new reality. For many of us, that means working from home, taking kids out of school, washing our hands and cleaning everything vigorously, and understanding that daily life will be disrupted for weeks and months to come.
Part of that disruption will directly affect countless workers all around the country and the world, as many businesses have no choice but to shut down their brick-and-mortar locations for the safety of the general populace. This will be a difficult storm for many of the stores to weather, especially if the federal government does not take drastic steps to assist, but it’s an important move to help ensure that the coronavirus spreads less rapidly.
You’ve probably heard about some of the closures via the news or on social media, but Business Insider put together a helpful list of every major US retailer that has closed its doors to help fight the coronavirus.

Many of these stores say that they plan to reopen in a week or two, but it’s hard to imagine that we will have the virus under control as soon as late March or early April. The good news is that many of the companies say they’ll continue to pay employees for the shifts they won’t be able to work while their retail stores are closed.

We will do our best to keep this list updated, but based on the sheer number of closures that have been announced within the past few days alone, it might soon be easier to list the locations that are staying open instead of the ones that are closing down. Either way, there’s not much reason to leave the house anytime soon.
